Steins:GATE is a touchstone of the anime world. It's one of those that nearly everyone's seen or at least heard of. In that, I'm actually a bit of an oddball. I liked it but it didn't hit me like it did most others. It's influence on the genre is undeniable though!
We appreciate you leaving this comment! Steins;Gate is truly a touchstone and utterly unique in so many ways. But we can’t imagine it will be everyone’s cup of tea, or land the same across viewers.
We love hearing this! 💜 The combination of the realistic setting with the science fiction plot makes Steins;Gate truly special. Thank you so much for commenting!
Steins;Gate is a show of many favorites for me. It's my favorite time travel story in media, period. It has one of my favorite characters, Suzuha Amane. It has both one of my favorite subs AND dubs (I love how Okabe/Kurisu's dynamic is portrayed so differently in each, but each feels right and memorable).
I'm in the camp of being quite underwhelmed by Steins;Gate 0, though. It has some interesting ideas and alternative character evolutions (I especially love the Suzuha/Daru/Moeka Back to the Future gags) but it's all too self-serious and mopey for me. I do like the movie Load Region of Déjà Vu, though, and have always been curious to play the original light novels--maybe someday!
Looking forward to your full review 😁 "El Psy Kongroo!"
Hey, thank you so much for the comment! And for sharing both what you loved and didn’t love so much about these two iterations of the series.
It’s true that Steins;Gate 0 is a very different flavor from the first season. We hadn’t considered that might not land as well with viewers, so I appreciate you calling it out here and giving us the opportunity to consider mentioning that in the synopsis.
We don’t have a long essay planned for Steins;Gate at this point but now that you have us thinking more about it…(fingers waggling)…who knows what the future holds ⏳
I think you did a fine job explaining the merits and differences of 0 👍 There's a lot to unpack with that show without spoiling the original and your overview threads that needle very well. I wasn't calling out, just sharing my own personal take 😊 0 has a flavor all its own and sharing it alongside the OG is a great call!
Oh interesting! I don’t know that one, but I will check with my writing partner and see if she does. Maybe it will pop up in the The Window Seat at a later date (fingers waggling). 🤭

Do you like other time travel or time loop anime?
I am reminded of it every time I go to Akihabara.

The more I think about it, the more the story reminds me of Rika's struggles in Higurashi

I was in high school when this came out. Awesome shoe
We agree! 💜 Steins;Gate is on both of our top anime lists.
